A commitment to improvement, innovation, and lifelong learning…

Hi, I’m Jackie Bittner, a 3rd-grade teacher at Pfluger Elementary. I made this website to share my ePortfolio and my learning journey while working on my Master’s of Education Degree in Applied Digital Learning at Lamar University. I also want to show how I’ve helped my students reach their goals. The best part of being a teacher is making a difference in others’ lives, and I’m truly grateful for that.

A passion for blended learning

This approach to learning lets teachers support diverse students, by using digital tools, and traditional classroom methods, helping each student to learn in a way that suites them best.

Collaboration

Students will work together in a team setting and collaborate with classmates over projects and assignments, as well as participating in group activities.

Flexibility

Blended learning allows students to have flexibility in what they learn, and how they learn it, as well as creating a more personalized journey to their education.

Integration

Experience the fusion of combining the elements of both a digital environment, and having face-to-face instruction in a classroom setting.

Student Centered

Students will have choice, ownership, voice, and opportunities for authentic learning, or COVA. They will have some control over their time, place, pace, and path that they can use to learn.

Project Based Learning

Students will work on projects that build on problem solving skills, and critical thinking. They will be able to relate their knowledge to the real world, and improve their communication and research skills.

Teacher Role

Teachers are the facilitators that support an empathetic culture of learning where students cooperate with each other, and develop positive relationships based on common interests and goals.

My Teaching Adventures

I co-managed two Destination Imagination groups with Mrs. Wella Olaes. Our students learned to work as a team to solve open-ended STEAM challenges and developed creative, imaginative skills.

Destination Imagination

19-20

Engineering Challenge

Students built a bridge out of playing cards and duct tape, and linked it to a self created script to tell a story about making connections and building friendships.

Destination Imagination

20-21

Technical Challenge

Students created a short film about a video game of themselves building a solar powered oven to help solve world hunger.

Destination Imagination 23-24. Team Pfantastic Artists. Students created a self written script about an event that happens in the city of Chicago, and how they come together, as a team, to overcome challenges. I volunteered at the event because these four students were in my homeroom class.

I received the GT Spotlight Award in the 2020-2021 and 2023-2024 school years for providing quality services that support the academic and social-emotional needs of gifted students at Pfluger.
